There’s a new burger in town—three actually. The Three Amigos, the Triple Crown, Hanson… it’s no secret that all good things come in threes. So when our meat experts decided to craft a new beef burger, they acknowledged that three is indeed the magic number and set to work on a trilogy of premium patties (but unlike the Back to the Future trilogy, each burger is better than the last).
Our meat merchant, Stefan Oellinger, and chief food adventurer, David McInerney, wanted to bring in a new line of beef burgers that would take our customers’ grilling game to the next level. They called everyone they knew, and tasted a lot of burgers, but none of them made the cut. So Stefan and David decided to take matters into their own hands.
Under David’s direction, Stefan devised three recipes using only the finest Angus meat from our friends at Local Harvest (all the burgers are made from beef raised without antibiotics and hormones, and are only available at FreshDirect). After much trial and error, the end results were spectacularly delicious.
But the story doesn’t end there. Half the battle with producing a good burger is getting the processing right. So Stefan called up his old friends at the Vermont Packing House, whose unique processing machine doesn’t press the burger, it just flattens it, so it’s as close to being handmade as possible: plump, juicy, and unbelievably tasty. Check out the three patties below (but we suggest you try ’em all):
1. House Recipe Burger
These tender and juicy patties are melt-in-your-mouth masterpieces. Their homestyle shape and consistency are perfect for backyard barbecues and cookouts. We like ’em in a sesame bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and ketchup. Classic!
2. Triple-Cut Burger
This premium blend recipe consists of ground, chuck, and short plate (the fatty cut used to make pastrami, which results in a beautifully juicy texture). Complement the flavor-packed deliciousness with aged cheddar, a pillowy brioche bun, and top with whatever fixings thrill your grill.
3. Skirt Steak Burger
Made from premium skirt steak, these burgers easily one-up any brisket burger. They’re equally as delicious on their own paired with salad or veggies as they are dressed up in a bread bun with your favorite condiments and toppings.
Now get grillin’!
