You can’t have Thanksgiving without a creamy squash dish. Thankfully, Eden Grinshpan of @EdenEats_ made this gratin chock-full of squash, garlic, and cream.
What You’ll Need:
1 butternut squash, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch thick pieces
4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh ginger- finely chopped
2 tablespoons roughly chopped fresh sage
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp grated nutmeg
1 1/2 cup whole milk
1 1/2 cup heavy cream
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
Salt and pepper to taste
What to Do:
Preheat the oven to 350°
Butter a baking dish with high walls. Place a layer down of the butternut squash, sprinkle with the cinnamon, nutmeg, sage and a nice amount of the garlic, ginger and season well with salt and pepper. Do another layer of squash and sprinkle over more cinnamon, nutmeg, sage, garlic, ginger, and salt and pepper. Repeat doing this until you are done with all the ingredients. Pour the milk and cream in and grate over a lot of gruyere.
Place into the oven for 1 hour. If it started getting too dark, loosely cover with tinfoil.
