They take as little as five minutes and taste great on salads, hot dogs, and more.
What You’ll Need:
1 medium red onion
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup white wine vinegar
3 sprigs thyme
2–3 cups water
What to Do:
Boil 2-3 cups of water in a kettle.
Peel and thinly slice the onion into approximately 1/4-inch moons.
In a mason jar, add the sugar, salt, vinegar, peppercorns, and thyme. Stir to dissolve.
Place the onions in a colander and place it in the sink. Slowly pour the boiling water over the onions and let them drain.
Add the onions to the jar and stir gently to evenly distribute the flavorings.
The onions will be ready in as little as 5 minutes, but taste better the longer they are pickled. Store for up to a week in the fridge.
