Avocados from Mexico are developed and perfected using a unique method. First, each avocado is harvested by hand. Once picked by the farmers, not all avocados make the cut though.
Once picked, the avocados travel a short journey to the packing house, where samples from each batch are sliced and tasted to ensure only the perfect ‘cados make it to the next step (shipped to you!)
The packing house
is where the avocados are primped and pampered. Each fruit is washed and
brushed until their natural wax shines through. After, they receive another
quality check from a camera that detects skin imperfections and differences in
size. They are then shipped to your store within a few short days.
Even though not
every avocado passes the imperfection test, there is no waste – the avocados
that aren’t store ready will be turned into incredible guac.
Additionally, the oil content is perfectly tested in Mexico
to reach a specified level, whereas other areas that produce avocados don’t
have the same rigorous standards. This is another key reason that these
avocados are extra tasty.
