Throwing a successful Oscar night party doesn’t need to mean an epic battle between cooking and cleaning. We’ve got some quick and easy dish ideas that can add some A-list glitz to your superstar spread without meaning you spend all night behind-the-scenes. So roll out the red carpet, gather your film-loving friends, and throw an Oscar party worthy of a Best Host nomination.
Give your party some Hollywood sparkle by serving up a champagne cocktail. We recommend the classic champagne cocktail like the one enjoyed in the Oscar-winning movie Casablanca. All you need is sugar cubes, bitters, brandy, and some champagne (Prosecco will do the job just fine, too). Garnish with a cherry or lemon.
That’s a wrap! Quick to prepare and delicious to boot, prosciutto-wrapped pears ooze sophistication and glamor. Simply slice the pear, wrap in prosciutto strips, drizzle lightly in white wine vinegar, and serve.
Ricotta, Pesto, and Red Pepper Crostini
We all know that crostini is just a fancy name for a baguette slice that’s visited the make-up department, but we love them anyway! One of our favorites is a ricotta, basil pesto, and roasted red pepper crostini. Simply toast the bread until crusty and golden brown, spread pesto on each slice, top with a tablespoon of ricotta, and garnish with chopped roasted red pepper. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Loaded Baked Potatoes
There’s no business like show business and there’s no potatoes like loaded baked potatoes. In the leading roles we think the time-tested cheddar and bacon bits are always a surefire hit, but let’s not overlook sour cream, which always does a solid job as a supporting cast member.
Creamy Avocado Dip
Lights! Camera! Dip action! A quick and creamy avocado dip might just steal your party’s spotlight. To serve roughly eight guests, scoop out four avocados and place them in a blender. Next, add 1 cup of cilantro, ½ a cup of sour cream, ¼ cup of fresh lime juice, 1 jalapeno (seeded and roughly chopped), and some salt and pepper. Blend together until smooth. Serve with dipping vegetables.
For a spicy twist on the classic movie snack, simply whisk together some melted butter, Sriracha sauce, and 1 clove of finely minced garlic. Then pour over some popcorn, toss, and enjoy!
