Everybody loves Pumpkin season!

Crisp air. Yellow and orange fallen leaves. Soft knit scarves. Pumpkin! Between pumpkin lattes and pumpkin pie, the fall season has become synonymous with that gorgeous round squash.  Armed with a fat, orange pumpkin or a big can of Libby’s, you can add pumpkin flare to almost anything.

Pumpkins are so versatile, you could break down pumpkin-y delights by category when looking for inspiration: there’s everything from soup, pasta, breads and muffins, dessert (including pie, of course), beer—even pumpkin dog treats.

With so many options, I decided to narrow it down and experiment with easy pumpkin breakfast ideas, reusing the same basic ingredients for three different recipes. If there’s a good time to add nutritious and filling pumpkin to your meal, it’s probably first thing in the morning!

Each recipe is pretty flexible so feel free to experiment on your end—swap almond milk in for my skim milk or add an extra scoop of pumpkin here and a dash of cinnamon there. (More…)

Finn checks out his birthday gift!

Earlier this year while I was helping to launch FreshDirect’s new pet shop, I couldn’t wait for its arrival on the site for one main reason: his name is Finnegan and he’s my black pug.

The samples would come in and I’d think, “Finn would love this!” And my dog has very discerning tastes (just kidding—he would eat anything given the opportunity).

When my FreshDirect order arrives every week, he looks on with curiosity, circling the boxes and sniffing for exciting items. But last Sunday, his 4thbirthday (yes, I celebrate my dog’s birthday), he got a box all to himself.

When placing Finn’s birthday order, I decided to go with two types of treats and two new toys. He’d already rotated through any toy samples I brought home, and I could tell he was itching for something new and exciting. (More…)

One of the fun things about working at FreshDirect is that we get to meet a lot of passionate people.

From farmers to entrepreneurs, there are so many people who love food and we learn a lot from them.

One of these entrepreneurs is Ben Weiss who founded Bai Antioxidant Infusions. These drinks are based on the coffeefruit: the casing that surrounds a coffee bean. He found this out while sourcing coffee. So he started making drinks out of the coffeefruit in his kitchen and then sold them out of the trunk of his car.

We just started carrying these new products in the shop so to celebrate, his team came up with these fun mocktails and cocktails that are perfect to welcome the Fall season. (More…)
