Fun Festive Ideas for July 4th Celebrations

I love getting together with friends and family to celebrate the Fourth of July.  Any excuse for good food and great company is fine by me!

Since the holiday occurs in the summer, there are so many fresh red, white, and blue fruits available to make easy, but beautiful and tasty, desserts.

So read on for a few ideas I gathered together to help you celebrate Independence Day in patriotic style!

1. Seeing Stars: What better way to easily spruce up your party table than with star-shaped foods? Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut watermelon for a fun fruit salad. Or slice up a few star fruits and add them to a cranberry or blueberry juice. Finally, I love this idea of making Rice Krispie stars and placing them on skewers with blueberries and strawberries.

2. Red, White, and Blue foods: Make your own stars and stripes with blueberries, banana slices, and strawberries.  Fun ideas using these fresh fruits are to make flag skewers or breakfast toast.  You can also make your own patriotic pops by freezing strawberry juice, lemonade, and blueberry juice. For a more savory treat, place red cherry tomatoes and little mozzarella balls on toothpicks and arrange them on blue plates.

3. Ready-made Magic: In a pinch for time? Simply scoop out vanilla ice cream into bowls and serve with fresh berries. Order a platter of our Star-Spangled Cupcakes or a few of our vanilla cupcakes and add your own decorations (fruit, sprinkles, mini flags, etc) on top.  Spruce up some ice cream sandwiches by rolling the ice cream part in red, white, and blue sprinkles like here.
